Massage & Wellbeing

A lot of our clients visit us purely for wellbeing massages. They may have recovered from an injury and gone through the rehabilitation stage yet still want to continue with regular therapeutic massages or some have had no injuries or restrictions but purely enjoy the relaxation and healing powers of a wellbeing massage.

“Sally” is one such example. A Team Leader by day, she spends her Monday to Friday daytimes in the office or travelling to clients in her car, but in the evenings and weekends she is a dance teacher. She has great posture and not much tensions within her muscles, yet really feels the benefits of massage for stress relied and relaxation. She has two treatments per month, which gives her ample opportunity to reconnect with her body and have some “me time”.

Wellbeing is a combination of a person's physical, mental, emotional, and social health factors. It has a strong connection to happiness and life satisfaction. Wellbeing could be described as how you feel about yourself and your life. There are many aspects of your life that influence your state of wellbeing. A few factors that have been found to enhance a person's wellbeing are having an enjoyable and fulfilling career, healthy self-esteem, sense of purpose and meaning, and an optimistic outlook on life, among other factors. You should remember that every aspect of your life influences your wellbeing. While you may believe that wealth is a quick way to gain happiness, it has been shown that it is the quality of the relationships we have with others that has the greatest effect on our wellbeing.

Taking time to relax is very important. Most of us live very busy lives. Most of us work, go to school, or maybe both. On top of that, many people have families to care for and bills to pay, which can make life very stressful. Many times, we get so caught up in our busy working lives that we don't take the time we need to take care of ourselves and we don't really take the time to think of how this has an effect on our health. Often times, we go about our lives and don't really pay that much attention to what we are doing and our memory of what we did that day isn't that sharp. We spend so much time focusing on our studies or our work that we don't give our bodies the relaxation it needs.

Usually, people get massages for general wellbeing or to address a specific complaint, such as pain. Massage therapy has the potential to contribute to both goals. Massage therapy may include physical relaxation, improved circulation, relief for tight muscles, enhanced energy and vitality, as well as greater flexibility. However, a sports massage is also a great way to relax. When you are feeling overwhelmed by everything that is going on in your life, a sports massage can help with relaxation and reduce stress, as well as rejuvenate your body. By taking time out to focus on quieting your mind and relaxing your body, you can get a feeling of revitalization.

A sports massage should play an important role in the life of any person whether they play sports or not. The ultimate goal of sports massage therapy is to increase the health of the body's internal issues. It can help the body stay in better condition, prevent injuries and loss of mobility, as well as restoring mobility to injured tissue muscle.

Taking time out for ourselves is essential to good health. While most of us do not have time to think about our health because of our busy working lives, it is vital that we make our health a top priority.
